My recent collaboration with artist Kate Johnson, the limited edition series of broadsides that combine poetry and graphic acrylic paintings created at the Prairie Center of the Arts, is well on it’s way to the next phase.
First, a brief recap in sales: In early August, we printed 60 and divided the press run in half. I had 30 on the day we finished printing, sold 5 in Illinois, and another 5 in Iowa, leaving me with 20 when I returned to Nebraska. Before August was out, I sold 8 more and in early September, an additional 3 found a home. This past weekend, 5 more found their way to my walls, because of course, I would save a set for myself. Giving me a grand total of 4. I have 4 prints left! Holy buckets! I can hardly believe it.
If your heart is set on a print, they are going fast. I’m so very thrilled. Here’s what’s left in stock: I have two prints of “The Gift” left,
and two prints of “Posturing” left.
If you want any of the other three, contact Kate Johnson.
Second, I spent the past weekend framing a set of the broadsides. Along with a flotsam of other items, we bought a slightly damaged mat cutter at a Blick Outlet store in Illinois. After setting it up in the basement, we did a few test mats on Russian propaganda posters I picked up at a Russian art museum in Moscow in May. There is the minuscule matter of trying to cut corners well, the application of steadfast tape, and the onus of selecting frames in the first place. They turned out pretty neat-o, even as a first,
and second attempt.
Then, we measured, matted, and framed a whole set of the broadsides. “Posturing” on one wall, because I love my Martians,
and the other 4 grouped together on another wall.
How cool is that? No ennui or acedia here. I couldn’t be more excited or thrilled!
